Applications now open for Mississippi Wild Hog Control Program

SUMMARY: Mississippi's Wild Hog Control Program (WHCP) is accepting applications. Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson highlighted the significant wild hogs cause, urging those with affected private agricultural or forestry lands to apply for traps. With wild hogs responsible for over $60 million in damage yearly in Mississippi, the WHCP provides traps and for effective management. Applications are online and evaluated based on acreage, historical damage, and present trapping efforts. Small acreage owners are encouraged to apply cooperatively. Traps are allocated for month-long periods, at a suggested rate of one per 500 to 1,000 acres.
