Applications are online and evaluated based on acreage, historical damage, and present trapping efforts. Small acreage owners are encouraged to apply cooperatively. Traps are allocated for month-long periods, at a suggested rate of one per 500 to 1,000 acres.

New ambulance service to start in Harrison County for first time in 50 years

SUMMARY: Acadian Ambulance Service will start 911 emergency services in Harrison County and several cities on May 1, 2024. They will operate a fleet of 13 ambulances, including specialized vehicles for bariatric patients and advanced care. Their service includes stations and rapid response points throughout the area, and they will offer a Quick Response Vehicle for rural emergencies. Acadian is CAAS-accredited and has verified its 911 system and Lifenet EKG communication with Memorial Hospital. With a 29-game winning streak and a season record of 46-8, the No. 3 nationally-ranked Wildcats are set to host the 2024 Region 23 Tournament at Dub Herring Park in Poplarville.
