Opinion: Harrison County sheriff race is choice of conscience
SUMMARY: The primary elections taking place in Harrison County, Mississippi, are not only important for statewide races but also for the local race for Sheriff. The two Republican candidates vying for the position are Matt Haley and Louis Elias. Since there are no Democrats running for the position, the winner of the Republican primary will automatically become the Sheriff. Both candidates have extensive experience in law enforcement, with Haley having worked for the Harrison County Sheriff's Office for over 25 years and Elias having served in various roles in both county and state capacities. Voters are encouraged to educate themselves on the candidates through debates and campaign websites before casting their votes in the primary elections.
