Teen locked up for impersonating Harrison County deputy, scamming people out of thousands

SUMMARY: 19-year-old Sharontay Rice from Georgia was in on two felony counts for impersonating a enforcement officer and scamming people out of over $28,000. The Harrison County Sheriff's Office received reports of a scam involving phone calls from someone to be a deputy and demanding money to avoid arrest. Rice was identified and apprehended after two victims reported meeting him at the courthouse. A search of Rice's hotel room resulted in the recovery of the stolen funds. He is held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center pending a court appearance. The sheriff stresses that deputies will never solicit money and urges the of any related suspicious calls. An investigation is ongoing.

Biloxi Shuckers ballpark officially renamed Keesler Federal Park

SUMMARY: The ' home stadium has been officially renamed Keesler Federal Park after Keesler Federal Credit Union secured the naming rights with a $150,000 per year offer for five years, which was $25,000 more than Biloxi's target.
