Mississippi Insight for April 28, 2024: Busy Friday
SUMMARY: This special edition of Mississippi Insight focuses on the ongoing discussions about Medicaid expansion in the state. There have been negotiations between the House and Senate, with a compromise plan being proposed by the Senate that includes coverage for individuals up to 138% of the federal poverty level. The House and Senate have also been working on education funding, with changes made to the Inspire Act. Additionally, the program highlights a report card from Republicans for Ukraine grading Mississippi GOP Congressmen on their support for aid to Ukraine. There are concerns about isolationism within the Republican Party and the importance of American leadership in supporting democracies like Ukraine.
House and Senate conferees find themselves near an agreement on Medicaid expansion, but details remain in doubt and time is running short for getting anything done this session. 12 News' Byron Brown and Richard Lake front this special report from the State Capitol. Produced by Tom Wright.
