Pearl River softball earns nine All-MACCC awards

SUMMARY: Following a second consecutive 40-win season, the Pearl River softball team celebrated numerous accolades as eight Wildcats were distinguished in the All-Conference teams by the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference (MACCC). Natalie Herrington was honored as the MACCC Pitcher of the Year and secured a First Team All-MACCC spot due to her standout performance, including a 1.69 ERA and 184 strikeouts over 169 1/3 innings. Lainee Bailey and Morgan Lavergne also earned places on the First Team All-MACCC due to their exceptional contributions. Additionally, Peyton Hoffmayer and Bryn Daughtery received Second Team honors, while Natalie Toups and Caroline Lindsey were recognized with Honorable Mentions. Coach Christie Meeks praised the hard work and dedication of the awarded players, highlighting their commitment on the field, in the classroom, and in representing Pearl River positively.

SUMMARY: Three sophomores from Mississippi Gulf Coast's national championship golf team—Will Burnham, Jackson Wise, and Andrew Zielinski—received Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar awards for their academic and athletic achievements. To qualify, players must participate in at least 50% of competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 77, and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2. Burnham, ranked No. 1 nationally, graduated with a 3.84 GPA and will play at Southern Miss. Wise, with a 3.65 GPA, will continue at Mississippi State, and Zielinski, ranked No. 2, graduated with a 3.92 GPA and will join Lee University.

66 Pearl River athletes and three teams recognized by NJCAA for their academic success

Dees joins Baseball coaching staff

SUMMARY: New Mississippi Gulf Coast baseball coach Zach Allen has appointed Kade Dees as an assistant coach, completing his staff. Dees, who played for Allen in junior college, will serve as the hitting coach and work with catchers. Dees also played for Delta State, contributing to their championship season. He holds degrees in health and sports performance.
