Southern Miss’ Joye Lee-McNelis wins Pat Summit Most Courageous Award

Despite her third battle with adenocarcinoma, McNelis has maintained an impressive coaching record and uses her influence to promote cancer awareness. Meridian man sentenced to 50 years for sexually assaulting 12-year-old girl

SUMMARY: Gary Raymon Rush, a 35-year-old from Meridian, received a 50-year prison sentence without parole for sex crimes against a 12-year-old child. Circuit Court Judge Randi P. Mueller issued the sentence for sexual battery and two counts of touching a child for lustful purposes. Rush had been found guilty by a jury after evidence surfaced that he had been caught in the victim's bedroom by a member. The abuse occurred at night and started two weeks before it was discovered. Rush also had a prior guilty plea for attempted rape in Lauderdale County. He will serve his sentence in the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Dinosaur exhibit coming to Mississippi Museum of Natural Science

This exhibit, featuring 11 animatronic dinosaurs, provides an immersive experience of Earth during the Mesozoic Era. Visitors will encounter dinosaurs like T. rex and explore ancient landscapes with deserts in Brazil and polar darkness in Australia. Created by Imagine Exhibitions, the show is supported by various sponsors, departments and local businesses. Additionally, the museum will host “Fun Fridays” and a “Tea Party with a T-Rex” to enhance the educational experience. Tickets are available online or at the museum.
