With wild hogs responsible for over $60 million in damage yearly in Mississippi, the WHCP provides traps and training for effective management. Applications are online and evaluated based on acreage, historical damage, and present trapping efforts. Small acreage owners are encouraged to apply cooperatively. Traps are allocated for month-long periods, at a suggested rate of one per 500 to 1,000 acres.

New ambulance service to start in Harrison County for first time in 50 years

SUMMARY: Acadian Ambulance Service will start 911 emergency services in Harrison County and several cities on May 1, 2024. They will operate a fleet of 13 ambulances, including specialized vehicles for bariatric patients and advanced care. Their service includes stations and rapid response points throughout the area, and they will offer a Quick Response Vehicle for rural emergencies. Acadian is CAAS-accredited and has verified its 911 system and Lifenet EKG communication with Memorial Hospital.
