Skilled to Work: EMS program aims to save more lives
SUMMARY: This content is sponsored by Edaa Community College and focuses on the need for EMTs and paramedics in emergencies. EMTs are the first responders in medical emergencies and have limitations in the types of medical procedures they can perform compared to paramedics. The shortage of paramedics is a concern, but programs like the one offered at ITW Community College aim to train the next generation of professionals. The hands-on training includes simulators that replicate real-world situations, teaching students important life-saving skills. Building relationships with patients is emphasized as a key aspect of the job. Overall, the focus is on caring for people in need.
WTVA's Michelle Martin shows us how and why paramedics do what they do for their community in this week's Skilled to Work.
