Jackson Co. Chamber of Commerce opposes medical facility inside proposed Legacy Park
SUMMARY: A commercial development named Legacy Park in Jackson County has caused a disagreement between the city of Goet and developers. The proposed project on Highway 57 includes shopping, restaurants, apartments, a hotel, and medical offices, including a cardiac surgery center. The county's Chamber of Commerce strongly opposes using taxpayer funds to subsidize a private medical facility that could harm the existing Singing River Health System. The developers argue that the cardiac center would save money for patients and insurance companies. A public hearing on a tax increment financing (TIF) agreement with Legacy Park developers is scheduled for Tuesday.
Legacy Park in Gautier is at the center of a disagreement between Gautier and Jackson County.
