The Juneteenth Committee Vice President emphasized the importance of community unity and celebrating freedom from various forms of bondage, both spiritual and natural. The event saw a larger turnout compared to the previous year, with hopes for even greater participation in the future. Juneteenth commemorates the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Galveston, Texas were freed, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, and was made a federal holiday in 2021.
The second annual Juneteenth Festival was held in Calhoun City, celebrating freedom and Black culture.
