Skilled to Work: How to become an occupational therapist assistant

The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a 34% growth in demand for occupational therapist assistants between 2020 and 2030.

Amory aims to build large storm shelter before next severe weather season
SUMMARY: The city of Amry is planning to build a new community storm shelter that will be one of the largest in the city. The shelter will be 12 ft wide, 64 ft in length, and able to hold up to 130 people. The city has applied for a $750,000 grant to help fund the project. The city hopes to have the shelter completed before the next storm season begins. Residents are supportive of the idea, as it will provide a much-needed sense of security and protection during severe weather events.

Interview: Wives of Warriors to host 9th Blessed are the Peacemakers 5k
SUMMARY: The Wives of Warriors will host their Ninth Annual Blessed Are the Peacemakers 5K event to fundraise for bulletproof vests for officers in need. Amanda Merill, a representative, explains that the organization aims to support law enforcement by providing protective equipment. They have donated 222 vests so far and the race on May 18th in Tupelo is their biggest fundraiser. A virtual component allows participants nationwide to register. The event has grown in participation over the years, with around 300-350 attendees annually. The goal is to ensure all officers have the necessary gear to stay safe on the job.

5-year-old electrocuted Thursday night in West Point
SUMMARY: A 5-year-old boy was electrocuted at a sports complex in West Point but is recovering well in hospital. The incident happened at a local baseball field where it is believed the boy came into contact with an electric box on a light pole. He was alert when taken to the hospital for further testing. The West Point Police Officer has confirmed the incident and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause. The West Point water and light department has shut down the complex to ensure safety. Baseball games will resume on Monday as police continue to investigate the incident.
A five-year-old boy was electrocuted Thursday night at the Sportsplex in West Point.
