Mississippi Delta residents concerned about broadband expansion

Concerns have been raised by Delta and lawmakers that the Mississippi Delta region will be overlooked in the distribution of funds, as it has been in the past. Vice Barbara Brooks of Leland, Mississippi, expressed worries about the region being left out, as she struggles with inadequate internet connectivity for business and Zoom meetings. However, the director of the office in charge of internet expansion reassures that the Delta will not miss out on , and plans to and finalize data for federal approval over the next 90 days. The funding could potentially be available by next fall.

Pine Belt chapter of Habitat for Humanity working on 72nd home

SUMMARY: Habitat for Humanity of the Pine Belt is building a new home for a deserving local , but they need to finish construction. The family, T. Bobby Moore, who lost everything in Hurricane , is for their new home on Park Avenue in Hattisburg. Moore has completed financial literacy courses and is close to completing her volunteer hours. Volunteers are needed to finish the by the end of July. To help, contact Habitat for Humanity of the Pine Belt at 601-582-4663. The money raised from a recent golf tournament is going towards building Moore's new home, the 72nd built by the organization since 1990.

Arrest made in Jasper County human trafficking case
