EMCC at Lion Hills hosts ‘Chopped’ for culinary students in GT area
SUMMARY: East Mississippi Community College at Lion Hills recently hosted a version of the TV show Chopped for culinary students in the Golden Triangle region. Students were given a basket of ingredients and had 20 minutes to create an appetizer, entree, and dessert. The event aimed to teach students important skills such as kitchen lingo, working under pressure, and safety and sanitation. The students expressed their passion for cooking and shared stories of being inspired by their loved ones. The culinary programs are seen as important for the future of the industry, and an awards luncheon will be held to honor the participants.

Street closings begin May 3

Alabama man killed in Hinds County crash
SUMMARY: An Alabama man, Curicous Palmer, was killed in a crash in Hinds County on U.S. 80 near Jones Road on April 28, just after 5:00 p.m. Palmer was driving a 2017 Ford Focus when he ran off the road and hit a tree, causing him to be ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is currently being investigated by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

One killed, three injured in Utica club shooting
SUMMARY: One person was killed and three others were injured in a shooting at a club in Utica, Mississippi.
