Mississippi mothers to receive full year of postpartum Medicaid benefits starting July 1

Postpartum for new mothers in Mississippi are anticipated to begin within the next few months the passing of Senate Bill 2212 last week.

The bill, which extends postpartum Medicaid benefits across the Magnolia from 60 days to a full year, is set to go into effect on July 1.

Prior to the bill's passing, mothers throughout Mississippi had been granted 12 months of coverage through the public emergency, requiring all states and territories to continue to cover every person who has been eligible for Medicaid on or after March 18, 2020.

Now, three years after the pandemic, the federal has called for the end of the COVID-19 crisis, to enact the yearly application for Medicaid eligibility renewals once again after April 1.

Two arrested for stealing AT&T internet lines in Adams County

SUMMARY: Two individuals, Joshua Peebles and Tiffany Vickers, were in Adams County for stealing copper by cutting AT&T internet lines. This was the second time in two weeks that deputies had responded to internet lines being cut. The suspects admitted to stealing 143 feet of internet lines on both occasions. They were arrested in Claiborne County during a traffic stop, and stolen property and burglary tools were recovered. Peebles and Vickers are facing charges of felony possession of stolen property in Claiborne County, as well as grand larceny and larceny charges in Adams County, resulting in approximately $10,000 in damages from each incident.
