Murder suspect denied bond
SUMMARY: An illegal immigrant from El Salvador, Julio Paneda, was denied bond after being accused of shooting and killing a woman in Hattisburg. He had his first court appearance with the district attorney stating that Paneda was ineligible for bond due to a hold from Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The victim, Josie Windam, was found dead on a sidewalk. The wife of the victim, DMA Bill, has also spoken out about the incident.

Medical center honors its volunteers Thursday

Fatal tractor-trailer accident claims life, ties up traffic
SUMMARY: An 18-wheeler crash on Interstate 59 South near the Evelyn Gandy exit has caused major delays, with one lane closed as emergency crews respond. The driver of the 18-wheeler, identified as 21-year-old Khalil Griffith, died in the crash. The North Forest volunteer fire department responded to the scene where smoke was seen coming out of the cab of the truck. Traffic has been stalled for hours as crews work to clear the scene. Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash, which happened around 7:00 a.m. near Monroe Road.
