Year in Review: 2023 State Champions
SUMMARY: Coast high schools in 2023 had a successful year, with multiple teams winning state titles in various sports. The Long Beach girls won the class 2 Bowling Championship, while Van Cleave and Ocean Springs brought home wrestling titles. St. Patrick and Bay High also won soccer titles, and Long Beach and Bay High won titles in track and field. Other sports, such as powerlifting, golf, softball, baseball, volleyball, swimming, and cross country, also saw coast teams winning state championships. Despite no coast team being represented in the football state championship games, cheer teams from Pascagoula, West Harrison, and Van Cleave brought home cheer championships. Overall, it was a successful year for coast high schools, and there are high hopes for continued success in 2024.
As another calendar year wraps up across the coast, plenty of teams brought home hardware in a number of sports in 2023.
