This morning, the Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual business update with Mayor Billy Hewes.

The sold-out event allowed chamber members to hear updates on progress across the city.

The mayor talked about infrastructure improvement, roads, the tramway bridge project linking the to Jones Park, the success of the inaugural Gumbo , the boom in , and Gulfport’s thriving area.

He also spoke on the continued growth along Pass Road.

To wrap up the address, Mayor Hewes incorporated a fun Christmas tale.

An Action Movie Is Filming in Gulfport and You Could Be an Extra

An action-packed buddy movie loaded with intriguing twists and fascinating turns that revolve around a reluctant friendship is currently being filmed in and you could be an extra cast member on the set.

Morgan Casting has been tasked with recruiting stylish extras for the SAG-AFTRA action/buddy movie, “The Bounty Chase,” that’s being filmed in and around the Gulfport areas through Dec. 4.

The top-secret plot surrounds a bounty-hunting story. Waveland arrest three with shoplifting, seek fourth suspect

Waveland have arrested three people and are looking for a fourth suspect in connection with a shoplifting case.

Police Chief Michael Prendergast said three people were arrested: 45-year-old Keith Bell of , 44-year-old Brian Johnson of Gulfport and 24-year-old Mahalia Willis of . All three were charged with felony shoplifting and trespassing. Willis also has an outstanding warrant for felony shoplifting out of Slidell, Louisiana. No bond has been set.

Gulfport man to serve life sentence for sexual battery of child

A man will spend the rest of his life in prison after being convicted of molesting a child for more than six years.

Judge Larry Bourgeois sentenced 67-year-old William Issac Arnold today after a three-day trial. The jury took just half an hour before returning the guilty verdict on the three counts of sexual battery.
