USPS could soon make improvements to Gulfport Processing & Distribution Facility
SUMMARY: Mississippi is implementing changes to the postal service to improve mail and package flow in the region, starting with the Gulfport processing and distribution center. Nearly $3 million will be used for improvements such as new equipment and better floor layouts. The changes won't impact mail delivery or employment. Local leaders and postal workers are hopeful that original services, including next-day delivery, will be reinstated in the future. The goal is to improve service standards and bring delivery back to the levels seen in 2012. It is now up to Congress and the Senate to act on these proposed changes.
