MDWFP partnering with taxidermists to making testing for CWD easier

SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is collaborating with taxidermists to streamline chronic wasting disease (CWD) testing for hunters. Hunters can now call a permitted taxidermist to receive a CWD sample number for deer harvested in a CWD management zone. This number allows hunters to transport a buck out of the management zone without the need to fully cape the hide or clean the skull plate. This initiative aims to make it easier for hunters to comply with CWD testing requirements and help manage the spread of the disease in the deer population.

The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks is making it easier to test for chronic wasting disease in deer by partnering with taxidermists.

Pine Belt chapter of Habitat for Humanity working on 72nd home

SUMMARY: Habitat for Humanity of the Pine Belt is building a new home for a deserving local family, but they need help to finish construction. The family, including T. Bobby Moore, who lost everything in Hurricane Katrina, is excited for their new home on Park Avenue in Hattisburg. Moore has completed financial literacy courses and is close to completing her volunteer hours. Volunteers are needed to finish the project by the end of July. The money raised from a recent charity golf tournament is going towards building Moore's new home, the 72nd built by the organization since 1990.

Arrest made in Jasper County human trafficking case
