MDAH Board approves demolition permit for Eudora Welty Library

SUMMARY: A pro-Palestine protest at the University of Mississippi in Oxford turned into a shouting match between protesters and counter-protesters. The protesters were evacuated from the campus and the protest was in response to the Israeli military response in Gaza. Over 200 counter-protesters were also present, throwing objects, shouting, and singing The Star-Spangled Banner. The organizers of the pro-Palestine protest are unknown and Governor Tate Reeves stated that law enforcement is prepared to respond to any unlawful behavior. Despite differing views, peaceful protests are allowed and protected, but unlawful actions will not be tolerated.

Bond denied for three charged in fatal Hinds County club shooting

SUMMARY: Three suspects, Anthony Brown, Eric Dixon, and Joseph Crum, have been denied bond in connection to a fatal shooting at a Utica club. The shooting occurred outside the Sugar Shack Club, resulting in the death of 41-year-old Jason Harris and injuries to four others. Investigators believe the shooting was a result of an altercation involving the deceased and three other individuals who knew each other. Further arrests and charges are possible in the case. Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact the Hinds County Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers.

Judge rules independent autopsy can be conducted on Dau Mabil
