Incentives for EV battery plant approved by Mississippi lawmakers
SUMMARY: Governor Tate Reeves is praising lawmakers for approving legislation to provide economic incentives for a new $1.9 billion project in Marshall County, the second largest capital investment in state history. The company will create 2000 new jobs with an average salary of $66,000, and the state will give the company $350 million, with half going towards infrastructure construction and the rest as grants. The bill passed with almost unanimous support, with only a handful of Republicans voting against it. However, some Democrats are frustrated, feeling that the governor and other state leaders have ignored the Delta and other regions along the Mississippi River.

The County Engineer and Board of Supervisors revealed that construction company TL Wallace faced difficulties with guard rail installation, causing delays. However, this issue has been resolved, and crews are now working on finishing the decks before applying a final layer of asphalt. TL Wallace assured the board that the bridge should be complete or near complete by the following week. Commuters will have to wait a little longer before the River Avenue Bridge is open for use.
