‘Goon Squad’ members to be sentenced next week

SUMMARY: Six former Mississippi enforcement will be next for torturing two Black in a racially motivated incident. Michael Corey Jenkins and Eddie Terrell Parker were subjected to violent torture in January 2023 by officers known as the “Goon Squad.” The officers burst into a home without a warrant, assaulted the men with stun guns and other objects, and even shot Jenkins in the mouth during a mock execution. The officers then planted and a gun to up their actions. The officers plead guilty to assault, conspiracy, and obstruction of justice charges, with sentences ranging from five to 30 years.
