Aberdeen alderwoman to watch election results from jail
SUMMARY: Lady Garth, a 64-year-old Aberdeen alderwoman, was arrested for assault and disturbance of an election. Initially arrested for assaulting a poll worker on April 5, Garth now faces jail time for a different conviction upheld by the Mississippi Supreme Court in February. In December 2022, she was guilty of disturbing the peace by trying to have a fellow board member removed from a meeting. Garth will spend five days in jail and watch her runoff election results against Rhonda Moore from a cell, with no Republican or third-party candidates in contention.

Biloxi Shuckers ballpark officially renamed Keesler Federal Park
SUMMARY: The Biloxi Shuckers' home stadium has been officially renamed Keesler Federal Park after Keesler Federal Credit Union secured the naming rights with a $150,000 per year offer for five years, which was $25,000 more than Biloxi's target. Keesler's bid was notably higher than Shuckers Baseball, LLC's $90,000 yearly proposal for a decade. As Mississippi Braves plan to relocate post-season, the Shuckers will become Mississippi's only minor league team. Keesler will benefit from prominent signage at the stadium entrances and atop the scoreboard early in the 2024 MiLB season. (Photo courtesy of the MiLB).
