Democrat Shuwaski Young calls for Rep. Keith Jackson to resign after stolen property charges
SUMMARY: Shuwaski Young, a prominent Mississippi Democrat, is urging State Rep. Keith Jackson to resign following charges of possessing and using stolen property. Jackson, who represents districts including Kemper, Lauderdale, Winston, and Neshoba counties, was indicted along with two others over a stolen log-truck trailer. Young has criticized Jackson for failing his duties and tarnishing the district's reputation. Considering a run for the seat if it becomes vacant, Young awaits a potential special election by Gov. Tate Reeves. Jackson, elected in November 2023, faces arraignment on May 28 and has not yet commented on the situation.
