VICKSBURG: Poor City In The Poorest State (Mississippi) Has Amazing, Rich History
We traveled to Vicksburg, Mississippi, a small city with a big history. It's known as the site of one of the most important Civil War battles, which was a turning point towards it's end. The Siege of Vicksburg is commemorated at the vast Vicksburg National Military Park, which includes the Vicksburg National Cemetery and the remains of the USS Cairo gunboat. The landmark Old Court House has a museum displaying Civil War artifacts. Coca Cola was bottled here for the first time, as well as the first time new shoes were sold in a box.
