Taking a look at Mississippi post-Roe v. Wade
SUMMARY: Following the overturning of Roe v Wade, Mississippi has seen a significant impact on women's access to abortion. Governor Tate Reeves has signed laws aimed at expanding support for pregnant women, including tax credits, safe haven baby boxes, and increased postpartum Medicaid coverage. However, disparities in healthcare access and outcomes persist, with Black women facing higher maternal mortality rates. Organizations like the Magnolia Medical Foundation are stepping in to provide support to struggling moms, offering services like food pantries, mental health support, and doula services. It is crucial to address these broader issues to ensure better health outcomes for mothers and children in Mississippi.
