Stewpot extends shelter hours due to extreme cold
SUMMARY: Stewpot in Jackson, Mississippi has extended its shelter hours to accommodate the extremely cold temperatures expected to impact Central Mississippi. Temperatures are expected to drop into the mid-teens and single digits from Monday, January 15 through Wednesday, January 17. The Opportunity Center Day Shelter will open nights from Friday, January 12 through Thursday, January 18 to help those in need. Stewpot is asking for donations of blankets, jackets, hand warmers, gloves, hats, and lip balm to help those affected by the cold weather. Donations can be brought to the Stewpot office during the week or to the Stewpot Community Kitchen on the weekends.
