SCRMC partners with WCU to launch hub site for medical students
SUMMARY: Medical students from William Carey University School of Osteopathic Medicine will soon gain real-world experience at South Central Regional Medical Center. The partnership aims to enhance students' experiences and help improve the health care system. The program allows students to spend their third year being mentored by medical professionals and rotating through different specialties at the hospital. The initiative is part of an effort to address the major need for doctors, especially in rural areas. The partnership with the hospital also includes developing residency programs to support students in continuing their medical practice.
A new partnership is underway at South Central Regional Medical Center where William Carey med students will spend their 3rd year in medical school.

Pine Belt chapter of Habitat for Humanity working on 72nd home
SUMMARY: Habitat for Humanity of the Pine Belt is building a new home for a deserving local family, but they need help to finish construction. The family, including T. Bobby Moore, who lost everything in Hurricane Katrina, is excited for their new home on Park Avenue in Hattisburg. Moore has completed financial literacy courses and is close to completing her volunteer hours. Volunteers are needed to finish the project by the end of July. To help, contact Habitat for Humanity of the Pine Belt at 601-582-4663. The money raised from a recent charity golf tournament is going towards building Moore's new home, the 72nd built by the organization since 1990.

Arrest made in Jasper County human trafficking case
SUMMARY: Kevin Paige, a man wanted for human trafficking, was captured in Jasper County and arrested by deputies. He faces charges of sexual battery and human trafficking, being the sixth person arrested in a ring involving a minor. The Sheriff believes more arrests will be made as the investigation continues. Paige's bond is expected to be set tomorrow. The Sheriff hopes to bring closure to the case involving the minor but wants to ensure all aspects are thoroughly investigated before closing the case. He credits the cooperation with other agencies in helping with the successful arrest of Paige.
