Pass Christian breaks ground on its portion of 26-mile beach walkway stretching to Biloxi
SUMMARY: Officials in Pass Christian, Mississippi, broke ground on a new $2.5 million pedestrian walkway, marking phase one of four. The walkway, celebrated by local mayors, will eventually extend over 20 miles along the coast from Pass Christian to Biloxi. Funding comes from grants like the $5.9 million awarded in 2019. The path, partly funded by the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act, aims to enhance tourism and control sand blowing onto the highway. SUMMARY: The Biloxi Shuckers' home stadium has been officially renamed Keesler Federal Park after Keesler Federal Credit Union secured the naming rights with a $150,000 per year offer for five years, which was $25,000 more than Biloxi's target. Keesler's bid was notably higher than Shuckers Baseball, LLC's $90,000 yearly proposal for a decade. As Mississippi Braves plan to relocate post-season, the Shuckers will become Mississippi's only minor league team.
