MDOT crews work to make roads passable for drivers
SUMMARY: The Jackson metro area had icy roads on Tuesday. The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) is treating roads to make them safer. There have been multiple accidents. The MDOT has updated machinery and brought in extra staff to deal with the icy conditions. MDOT has 113 snowplows and vehicles that can spread materials on the roads. Crews are working overtime to treat the roads and make them more passable. Even though the interstates in the metro area are now usable, people are urged to stay off the roads. The temperature is not expected to rise above freezing until Wednesday morning.

The space is set up with realistic obstacles and scenarios to help them prepare for different situations. The goal is to eventually build a larger-scale facility for more comprehensive training. The firefighters believe that continuous training is essential to ensure citizen safety and respond effectively in emergencies.
