Lowndes County deputies will soon have 2 new officers joining patrol

SUMMARY: The Lowndes County Board of Supervisors has decided to purchase two new K9s for the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department. The total cost for the dogs, their , and school for the handlers is estimated to be around $34,000. These new dogs will be used for various purposes such as detection, apprehension, tracking, and search and rescue. As the current dogs get older and can no longer perform their duties, the new dogs will take their place. The dogs usually retire between nine to 11 years old.
