Lawmakers kill bill looking to merge Mississippi University for Women and Mississippi State

SUMMARY: A teen, Daveon Lindsey, was denied bond after killing Melvin McNair Jr. at a Jackson, Mississippi, tennis complex. Lindsey, 19, was apprehended following a police chase that ended with him crashing McNair's stolen vehicle. The incident unfolded when officers located the suspect at a Walgreens near the crime scene. Lindsey confessed to multiple shootings of McNair with a pink assault rifle, then dragged him out of his truck, stole his wallet, and fled. The murder weapon was recovered at the crash scene.
