Secretary of State warns residents to beware of third-party mail over voter registration
SUMMARY: Mississippi officials, including Secretary of State Michael Watson, are alerting residents to questionable mail from The Voter Participation Center, a private entity. The mailers, misleadingly suggesting recipients may not be registered to vote, prompt them to submit a voter registration form, which isn't official government correspondence or a reflection of their current registration status. For accurate election information, Watson advises relying on trusted sources like local election officials or the Secretary of State's Office. Residents can verify their registration status online or contact their county circuit clerk for assistance. Watson emphasizes that official information should come from reliable government sources.
