IHL names 13th president of Jackson State University

SUMMARY: Dr. Marcus Thompson was appointed the 13th president of (JSU) by the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL). Serving currently as the IHL's deputy commissioner and chief administrative officer, Thompson will take the helm on November 27, 2023, succeeding interim President Dr. Elayne Hayes-Anthony who filled in after Hudson's resignation. With a history of educational leadership, Thompson expressed his commitment to the university's mission and is determined to work collaboratively towards strategic goals. He degrees in history, Spanish, education, and a Ph.D. in urban higher education from JSU.
