2024 Drug Take Back Day held in Mississippi
SUMMARY: The DEA's National Prescription Drug Takeback Day was held in partnership with the Hines County Sheriff's Department, who set up a collection station at Walmart for people to drop off old prescription drugs. The goal of the event is to help people safely dispose of unnecessary medications to prevent misuse. In less than an hour, a garbage bag full of prescription drugs was collected. It was emphasized that keeping old prescriptions at home could pose risks for children, who might accidentally ingest them, or for thieves who could misuse them. Resources and treatment information can be found at dea.gov/takeback day.
