Governor Reeves elected to second term, defeats Presley – Home – WCBI TV
SUMMARY: Mississippi Republican Governor Tate Reeves has been re-elected to a second term in the state where his party dominates. He defeated Democrat Brandon Presley, who focused on addressing issues such as job creation and education. Reeves portrayed Presley as a liberal who was out of touch with Mississippi. This election was competitive despite Mississippi being a GOP stronghold for the past 20 years. Reeves' campaign raised less money than Presley's, but he was able to prevail. The hard-fought contest was disrupted by a voting mess, but Reeves emerged as the winner. Other Republican officials, including Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann and Attorney General Lynn Fitch, also won their respective terms.
