The US is forgiving more federal student loans in a bid to tackle ‘unsustainable debt’ for borrowers
SUMMARY: President Joe Biden has announced a new round of federal student loan forgiveness set to eliminate $9 billion in debt for 125,000 borrowers. This marks the latest step toward addressing the unsustainable debt crisis linked to college education. The Biden administration has already wiped out $127 billion in debt for 3.6 million borrowers. The President is under considerable pressure to fulfill his election promises on debt relief, despite previous plans being overturned by the Supreme Court's conservative majority.
