Crosby Arboretum holds 20th annual Bug Fest in Picayune
SUMMARY: The annual Bug Fest in Picayune provides families with the chance to enjoy insects of all kinds. Event coordinator Barb Medlock invited experts from Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama to help build on the growth of the event. One new addition to Bug Fest is a picnic table made from a fallen cedar tree, which was created by craftsman Scott Duplantis. The table was dedicated to Scott's mother and serves as a fitting memorial for her love for gardens and planting. The table is interactive, allowing guests to touch the hive and see where the bees were. Overall, Bug Fest aims to educate and inspire children to love and invest in nature.
The opening of the University of Mississippi's Roger F. Wicker Center for Ocean Enterprise drew a large crowd Friday at the Port of Gulfport.
