Shafer Center offering 'Green Dot' training
SUMMARY: April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and the Schaefer Center for Crisis Intervention in Pine Belt is working to break the stigma by encouraging everyone to get involved. They provide counseling and resources for victims of sexual assault, emphasizing the importance of being an active bystander to prevent or stop sex-related crimes. Every 68 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted, with one out of every six women and about 3% of men being victims. The Green Dot training empowers the community to intervene by being direct, delegating, or distracting in situations of potential harm. Taking action can make a difference in reducing the number of victims.

SUMMARY: The Pine Belt experienced a divide in weather outcomes, with some areas receiving rain while others stayed dry. Temperatures varied depending on rainfall, with lower temperatures in areas that received rain. Showers were brief and short-lived, with some thunder but no severe weather expected. Increasing cloud cover indicated more rain in the forecast for the following day, with possible strong storms. Temperatures were expected to increase, with rain likely in the afternoon and evening. Overall, the week looked to have some much-needed rainfall before a drier pattern in the future.
