Attorney for Rankin County teen murder suspect asks court to bar media from trial
SUMMARY: A lawyer for Carly Madison Gregg, 14, charged with killing her mother and attempting to murder her stepfather in Rankin County, is seeking to ban media from the trial, fearing unfair prejudice and requesting a bond reduction from $1 million. Judge David Morrow delayed ruling on these requests, noting the public's right to know and freedom of the press. The incident involved the teenager allegedly shooting her mother, a teacher, and injuring her stepfather, with claims of premeditation but also suggestions of mental health issues influencing her actions. The judge expects a prompt mental evaluation of Gregg.
