North Panola Career and Technical Center team wins national award for anti-bullying initiative

The team was among the finalists who presented projects in Washington, D.C., aimed at preventing targeted violence. Over 1,200 students from 119 universities and 138 high schools have joined the contest since its 2021 launch, with some teams sustaining their projects with additional funding.

Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and JSU softball teams earn NCAA Tournament bids
SUMMARY: Three Mississippi teams have been announced in the NCAA Division I Softball Championship field for 2024. No. 17 Mississippi State, after a strong SEC performance and despite missing the 2023 tournament, will compete in the Stanford Regional, led by All-SEC players Madisyn Kennedy, Aspen Wesley, and Sierra Saco. They face Cal State Fullerton in their first game. Ole Miss, entering their eighth consecutive NCAA Tournament, starts in the Lafayette Regional against Baylor, with All-SEC player Aynslie Furbush. Jackson State, in its first tournament since 2011, will play as a four-seed against No. 9 LSU in the Baton Rouge Regional. Regionals will run from May 17-19 in a double-elimination format.

Boil water notice lifted in Jackson following storm-related power outage

Henifin also acknowledged the Mississippi State Department of Health's laboratory staff for their timely work, and noted that plans are being made with Entergy to ensure backup power capacity for the plant in the event of future severe weather.
