Mississippi’s Republican governor has 5 times more campaign cash than his Democratic rival
SUMMARY: Republican Gov. Tate Reeves of Mississippi is raising significantly more campaign funds than his Democratic challenger, Brandon Presley. The Reeves campaign reported raising over $1 million in June, leaving them with over $9.6 million cash on hand. Presley's campaign raised over $500,000, finishing with over $1.85 million cash on hand. Reeves also faces two challengers in the Republican primary. Presley, who is seeking the Democratic nomination, raised nearly $200,000 more in June than previous Democratic candidate Jim Hood did four years ago. Mississippi, Louisiana, and Kentucky are the only states with races for governor this year.

Police respond to ‘mass casualty incident’ in rural Illinois community

3 arrested, 1 wanted after stolen vehicles found at Jackson home
SUMMARY: Jackson police arrested three suspects and are searching for a fourth after recovering several stolen vehicles. The investigation began when a vehicle was stolen from Walmart off Highway 18 on June 11. Detectives tracked the vehicle to a residence on Hickory Drive. On June 12, three suspects were arrested at the residence, while the fourth fled. Three stolen vehicles, including one from Walmart and a U-Haul, were recovered. Police are investigating if more stolen vehicles are present. The three suspects are facing auto theft charges. Anyone with information can contact Jackson police or Crime Stoppers.

Mother of man on trial for killing two near Hal’s St. Paddy’s Parade arrested

Cummins, charged with first-degree murder and contraband, claims self-defense. Lukens was also charged with hindering prosecution.
