Mississippi Library Commission barred ‘The Hate U Give’ from circulation. Now it’s back on shelves

Angie ' book ‘The Hate U Give' is back on library shelves in after the Mississippi Library Commission made the book and the unavailable.

Thomas' book and a number of others that deal with race have been barred in Mississippi and across the nation in the name of keeping “harmful material” away from minors.

More book restrictions could be on the way. Two bills passed the Mississippi House and Senate proposing age restrictions on libraries' digital content.
Under these bills, Mississippi could ban digital books with “sexually oriented” material from public and school libraries. Some lawmakers have voiced concern that this could mean even adults could not access some e-books.

Mississippi Medicaid expansion talks hit a wall

SUMMARY: House Speaker Jason White proposed a ballot initiative for Mississippi voters to voice their opinion on expansion, which was not well-received by the Senate. House Democrats are pushing for a work requirement in the expansion but have opposition. Pro-Palestine protest held on Ole Miss campus

SUMMARY: A pro-Palestine protest at the of Mississippi in Oxford turned into a shouting match between protesters and counter-protesters. The protesters were evacuated from the campus and the protest was in response to the Israeli military response in Gaza. Over 200 counter-protesters were also present, throwing objects, shouting, and singing The Star-Spangled Banner. The organizers of the pro-Palestine protest are unknown and Governor Tate Reeves stated that enforcement is prepared to respond to any unlawful behavior.
