SUMMARY: The weather in South Mississippi is mostly cloudy with temperatures in the low 90s. There are scattered showers and thunderstorms expected in the area with rain chances increasing to 70 percent. A low pressure system to the west will bring deep tropical moisture and increase rain chances over the next few days. There is a flooding threat and a marginal risk for flooding today and tomorrow. Temperatures over the Labor Day weekend will be around 89 degrees with elevated rain chances.

Cold Case: Hurricane Katrina victim identified nearly two decades later
SUMMARY: Hurricane Katrina had a devastating impact on the Gulf Coast, with many lives lost and families torn apart. One family finally received closure this week after DNA testing identified their missing loved one, Tonette Jackson, nearly two decades after she disappeared. Her husband had desperately searched for her after the storm, but her body was only recently positively identified. Through forensic investigations and genetic genealogy research, Tonette's name was added to the list of victims on the Katrina Memorial. While her family still mourns her loss, they can now find comfort knowing she is at peace.
In August of 2005, Hurricane Katrina forever changed the lives of those on the Gulf Coast.
