MGCCC student awarded prestigious Guistwhite Scholarship
SUMMARY: Kiyoshi Takahashi, a student at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, has been named a 2024 Guistwhite Scholar by Phi Theta Kappa (PTK). This prestigious honor includes a $5,000 scholarship for baccalaureate studies. Takahashi is a dedicated student involved in various campus organizations and plans to pursue a bachelor's degree in biological science (pre-med). His long-term goal is to become a physician in the U.S. Air Force. The Guistwhite Scholarship recognizes outstanding scholarship and leadership among PTK members, with winners selected based on academic excellence and engagement in PTK programs. Takahashi's achievement is celebrated by MGCCC and the Phi Theta Kappa community.

USM Represented at Premier 2024 Ocean Sciences Meeting
SUMMARY: University of Southern Mississippi (USM) School of Ocean Science and Engineering (SOSE) students, faculty, and staff presented various coastal topics at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Ocean Sciences Meeting in New Orleans. MSU celebrates 19 teachers earning National Board Certification
SUMMARY: Mississippi State's World Class Teaching Program honored 19 teachers who achieved National Board Certification and four who renewed the credential. The program ranks 14th nationally for total number of National Board Certified Teachers, with 1,086 MSU graduates earning the certification. Established in 1996, the WCTP supports teachers seeking advanced certification through the NBPTS process. Teachers from various school districts in Mississippi earned or maintained their certification through the program. The National Board Certification is the highest certification for teachers and the most respected one. The program recruits and mentors teachers through the certification process, providing support in various ways.
