Work Zone Awareness Week begins Monday, April 15
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Transportation and Governor Tate Reeves have designated April 15th through 19th as National Work Zone Awareness Week. This marks the start of construction season, with crews focusing on making roads safe for drivers. Many crew members have lost their lives due to high-speed vehicles and distracted drivers. Drivers are urged to be cautious and slow down when approaching work zones, as worker safety is paramount. The goal is for workers to return home safely each night, and for drivers to avoid distractions while passing through work zones. Wearing orange on Wednesdays shows support for work zone safety.
