CPC of Meridian hosts its Catch the Vision walk thru
SUMMARY: The warming center at the multicounty community service agency in Meridian was a success, with an average of eight people staying each night during the recent winter conditions. Ronald Caller expressed his satisfaction with the warming center's success, which was open for three days during the initial cold snap. By staying open all day, they were able to help people stay out of the elements. Caller also expressed gratitude to the local police department, sheriff's department, American Red Cross, and other organizations for dropping off helpful items to support the warming center.
The warming center was a major success over the past 3 days due to the winter conditions we faced last week.

Seven rescued by law enforcement after being stuck on sandbar in Monroe County
SUMMARY: In Monroe County, several people, including children, faced a potentially deadly situation. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office shared on Facebook that a 911 caller reported being stranded on a sandbar in Town Creek, in the Bigby area. Sheriff Kevin Crook stated that seven individuals were surrounded by rushing water. A deputy went home to Amory, retrieved his boat, and, along with a state wildlife officer, rescued the stranded group. The sheriff noted that the water rose rapidly due to a storm miles upstream, creating a deceptive and dangerous situation for the swimmers.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says seven people were rescued after being trapped on a sandbar.

'Empowering Health” conference for Black men held in Jackson
SUMMARY: In Jackson, a conference organized by Fresh Start Ministries, involving multiple groups, aimed to educate Black men about the importance of self-care. Henley emphasized the importance of early retirement planning, noting that over 30 men participated online, with numerous others attending in person.

Three arrests made in Clay County homicide investigation
SUMMARY: Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott confirmed three individuals, including Keon Boyd and Stric Griffi, have been charged with the murder of Ronald Bean, who was shot and killed on Saturday. Bean's body was discovered off Clay-Chiasa County Line Road. The incident reportedly began at CC's Club. A video shows Bean's car being towed from the scene.
