USM celebrating National Transfer Student Week
SUMMARY: According to Forbes, 2.1 million college students transferred schools in 2021. The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) is celebrating National Transfer Student Week, honoring those transfer students. USM provides resources for transfer students, including an honor organization, Tau Sigma, a transfer student association, and a peer mentor program called Transfer Transitions. Kyra Lampley, a transfer student from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, serves as a mentor and a 2023 National Transfer Student Ambassador. Lampley discusses the challenges she faced during the transition and the importance of supporting transfer students. The celebration of National Transfer Student Week at USM aims to help transfer students settle into their new academic environments and make connections across campus.
This week gives transfers the opportunity to reflect on their journies and the chance to make new connections across campus.
