USDA is designating all Mississippi counties as primary natural disasters

SUMMARY: The US Department of Agriculture has designated all 82 counties in Mississippi as primary natural disaster areas due to the drought in 2023. M Franklin, Maran, and Pickins County in Alabama have also been included. Farmers in these areas can apply for FSA emergency loan assistance within 8 months. Producers are encouraged to visit their local FSA office for more information on how to apply for these emergency loans. This designation aims to help farmers affected by last year's drought to recover and continue their agricultural operations.

Producers will have eight months to apply for emergency loans.
