University of Mississippi Graduate chosen as 2023 Marshall Scholar
SUMMARY: Jilkiah Bryant, an alumna of the University of Mississippi, has been awarded a Marshall Scholarship to study community health at Sheffield University in England for two years. This scholarship was created by the British Parliament and funds two years of American students' study towards master's degrees of their choosing in the United Kingdom. Bryant plans to pursue two master's degrees: a Master of Public Health in international development and a Master of Science in health economics and decision modeling. She hopes to bring back what she learns to rural Mississippi counties to improve community health. Throughout her journey, Bryant has been a recipient of prestigious scholarships and has been involved in coordinating health fairs and founding organizations.

Sister of Mississippi man who died after police pulled him from car rejects lawsuit settlement
SUMMARY: A woman rejected a settlement from Jackson, Mississippi after officials disclosed the amount they would pay her for her brother's death at the hands of three police officers.
